Abstract

This research aimed to know science teachers’ perceptions towards adopting science standards for the next generation (NGSS) and its relationship to their scientific enlightenment in the light of some variables (Gender, Years of service and qualification). The sample of research consisted of (150) science teachers in basic education schools for the academic year (2021-2022) that (58) male teachers and (92) female teachers for variable years of service, (60) of male teachers are less than (10) years of service, (92) of female teachers are more than (10) years of service, (49) qualification of College of Education and (101) of College of Basic Education. The stratified random method was selected from the research community. In order to achieve the goal of research and answering questions, this requires two tools, the first a scale of perceptions towards adopting science standards for the next generation (NGSS) and the scientific enlightenment of the science teachers for the basic education stage in the schools of the (KRG), this positive relationship with all variables indicates that science teachers have tended to adopt these standards in order to develop the way of teaching science and achieve their objectives both teachers and students, as well as they are at a high level of scientific enlightenment it has become a mutual process between the variables, that a teacher who possesses an appropriate scientific enlightenment has the desire and ability to accept the developments in terms of their knowledge and interaction with members of society and outside of school.
