The relationship between literature and society is a close one because literature takes shape in various fields, such as cultural, economic, political and educational among many others. This relationship becomes apparent through the researches of other scholars, specifically through literary sociology scholarship which was known at the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century. Saint-Simon, Madam de Steal, Dobonald and Hippolyte Taine are among the most important scholars of this field. The aim behind combing social science with literature is directed to another level, namely the sociology of the text, which is the society’s reading of literary texts to observe social, historical and political problems at the level of language, a common practice in the 1990s. However, this practice was initiated by the Czechoslovak scholar Pierre Zima in the 1970s. Zima considers the text to be a tool for the delivering the message of society because he makes the text a living language tool and does not separate it from ideology. Zima analyzes the text at the lexical, semantic, and narrative levels. The lexical level deals with words, the semantic level deals with sentences and phrases and the narrative level focuses on the French approach(Greimas) and the two concepts (surface structure of the text and deep structure of the text). This research employs the schema (actantial model) in the novel (The big Lake when its fish are thirsty) by the writer (Sabri Slevani) based on this foundation that Zima established for the sociology of text. It aims to show how Zima’s approach influences some logical and social changes on the basis of language.
