This research deals with (The Diplomatic Activities of the Dutch East India Company in the Safavid State 1629-1666), and it is an attempt to identify the activity of this company in the Safavid state during the years (1629-1666).This is of particular importance in view of the important stages that the diplomatic activities of the Dutch East India Company went through in the lands of the Safavid state in light of sending delegations to strengthen its political and commercial foundations in the country.The Dutch East India Company tried during the years (1629-1666) to make its relations with the Safavid state more expressive of the unilateral protection of its political and commercial interests, in order to attract the country to conclude treaties against its opponents, especially the English East India Company in the region.In addition, the Dutch East India Company tried to benefit from the renewal of the 1623 Treaty and the abolition of customs duties by sending delegations to enhance the political and economic prosperity of the Netherlands and its company by controlling the foreign trade of the Safavid state.Despite all the efforts made by the Dutch East India Company, but in general during the period (1629 - 1666), diplomatic efforts never reached a level of reassurance for the Dutch, and only the exchange of delegations and letters was achieved.

The research consists of three chapters; the first chapter focuses on the diplomatic activity of the company in the Safavid state during the years (1602-1629). As for the second chapter, it deals with the diplomatic activity of the Dutch East India Company in Iran (1629-1642), and is divided into two branches. The first branch deals with the activities of the company's delegations during the years (1629-1632), while the second branch sheds light on the obstacles to the company's diplomatic activity during the period 1633-1633. The third and final section of the research is devoted to the company’s diplomatic activities in Iran (1642-1666), and consists of two branches. The first branch focuses on the severance of relations and the beginning of the company’s military efforts 1642-1649, and the second branch emphasizes the period of Safavid domination over the company’s representatives (1650-1650).
