##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.main##
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of a cognitive behavioral therapy on changing the orientation of orphanage adolescents about the future.
The participants of the study were 6 adolescent girls living in an orphanage in Erbil. To measure the orientation about the future, the researcher adapted the scale (Al-Asadi, 2017, p. 122-124) which consisted of 32 items. According to the circumstances and objectives of the study, the researcher developed an appropriate program based on cognitive behavioral therapy for the study sample.
To confirm the hypothesis of the study, and due to the small number of participants, the researcher used the Wilcoxon Test to reveal the difference between the numerical means of the experimental group in the pre-test and post-test. The results of the study showed that the cognitive behavioral therapy program has an effect on changing the orientation about the future among the adolescents in the orphanage and the difference is statistically significant at the level of (0.05). Thus, the null hupothsis is rejected and the alternative is accepted.
