This study, which is part of a PhD thesis, entitled "Conceptual Metaphor in Kurdish Language." We have concentrated on ideas that are widely held and cannot be overlooked. To identify data obtained from daily uses, George Lakoff and Mark Johnson's approach is employed. Traditional linguists argued that semantics is solely truth conditional, that metaphor is a literary device, and that no context is required to grasp a statement.

We are intended to show that there is no difference between poetry and everyday language in this research; the only distinction is that poetry is richer, and context is required to grasp the meaning of expressions. The significance of this research is that it refutes the viewpoint on metaphor as only a literary device, and we have many common conceptions in which they have taken up a significant portion of our daily discourse.
