The Impact of Foreign Dubbed Dramas on Kurdish Youth in Erbil City: A Survey Study

Abstract

From the beginning of the establishment of Kurdish satellite channels, drama has widely occupied a significant portion of many channels and has managed to become an important genre for attracting audiences. In addition, drama has been able to deliver various messages to society. The aim of this research is to understand the relationship between dubbed foreign dramas and Kurdish satellite channels, reveal the characteristics of dubbed foreign dramas through Kurdish satellite channels, and determine the level of broadcasting of dubbed foreign dramas on Kurdish satellite channels. This scientific effort is important because dubbed foreign dramas are directly related to society. The research community consists of young people in the city of Erbil, and the research sample is young people in Erbil from different backgrounds. 300 questionnaires were distributed in a stratified random sampling manner. Additionally, in this research, the statistical tool known as the SPSS system was used. The research is of a descriptive type, and in its practical aspect, by obtaining detailed and necessary data and reaching a set of results, the researchers used the survey method to determine the impact of dubbed foreign dramas on Kurdish satellite channels among young people in Erbil.

Key Findings:      The research sample, along with the fact that dubbed foreign dramas on Kurdish satellite channels have an influence on young people in Erbil.  There is a positive relationship between dubbed foreign dramas and Kurdish satellite channels. Kurdish satellite channels are an important tool for spreading information in the shortest time. From this perspective, the results of this research are important for understanding the role that Kurdish satellite channels play in the impact of dubbed foreign dramas on young people in Erbil.
