Abstract

Electoral geography as an important branch of political geography analyzes the weight of the lists involved in the electoral process and plays a major role in determining the reasons for the success and failure of electoral lists. The aim of this study is to examine the number and proportion of Kurdish voters between the 2005-2021 elections for the Iraqi Council of Representatives in the Kurdistan Region outside the Kurdistan Region، as well as the geo-economic and political factors affecting voting in the region. The research is divided into three main themes, the first of which is the first one. The second axis is the situation of the Kurdish parties in the Kurdistan areas outside the Kurdistan Region between the two elections. The third ، the geographical، political and economic factors that affect the voting in the region have resulted in a decrease in voter turnout in general. In the Kurdistan areas outside the administration of the Kurdistan Region between the two elections, the percentage of Kurdish voters as the general constituency in the region decreased by 38.6 percent The percentage of Kurdish voters as a general constituent in the region decreased by 20.3% to 12.3%, i.e., by 8.3%, which is due to the loss of confidence on the part of voters in voting and political parties in realizing their rights and demands.
