Abstract

The role of women in preserving Kurdish folk songs and music is no less important than the role played by men in transmitting Kurdish heritage and folklore between generations. Women have been a key figure since ancient times who were able to carry Kurdish folk songs and traditions in their hearts and memories, pass them on to children and future generations, and ensure the continuity of this heritage. Women's participation is not only to preserve Kurdish music and songs, but also as part of them.   They are the creators of art most of the time. Women are also involved in the introduction of new songs alongside traditional songs, and women's experiences and perceptions of art in general and music in particular have given a form of internationalization and a kind of modern character to Kurdish culture.  Women have been able to enhance the cultural presence of traditional songs and reach a wider audience through their participation in festivals and concerts, all of which have helped to revive and develop this national heritage. Many women have worked in the fields of research and documentation of traditional songs and have made great sacrifices and contributions in this field.
