Director's Didactic Work with the Actor: Fadil Jaf's Performance (The Thunderstorm) as a model

Abstract

This research explores the didactic dimension of the director–actor relationship through the example of Fadil Jaf’s performance of The Thunderstorm. It focuses on the director's role as an educator during the rehearsal process, highlighting how structured pedagogical approaches can shape the actor’s craft and deepen their understanding of the performance. The research examines how the rehearsal space becomes a site of learning, where the director functions as a mentor—guiding the actor not only in technical execution but also in the exploration of text and character. By analyzing this specific performance, the study identifies key strategies that fostered an effective educational environment. It offers insights into how such didactic interactions can influence future work—not only for the director and actors involved, but also for others who experienced the process closely or reflected on it through critical or academic observation.  In three chapters, the first of methodological framework, the second of theoretical framework and the third of measures. the research has tried to cover a wide range of topics and issues related to the research problem.  The research reached results, the most obvious of these is that: a professional environment was created, there was a specific methodology for working on acting and directing, the production had a methodological impact on many participants who can continue in future productions as actors, directors, scenographers and researchers, rehearsals were generally a didactic environment.
