The efficiency of language in the representation of culture

Abstract

This study entitled “The function of language in the representation of culture”. Due to a close connection between language and culture, applied linguistics examines how learners become familiar with and learn about culture while studying and teaching a language in a social setting. Dominance of cultural materials is a critical constituent for familiarity and language learning, thus, it refers to explanatory analyses particularly from proverbs, taboo words and daily conversations of the speakers. Knowledge itself is entangled in the process of learning and teaching a language as well as familiarizing the learner with foreign cultures, where each of them through its scientific characteristics attend in the learning and teaching language process, and familiarizing learner with the foreign culture too, otherwise, ignorance of various cultural facets will result in language learning failure since it is a contributing factor to learning issues, because in the process of learning and teaching language in the context of society, neither language without culture nor culture without language will achieve its goal. The aim of this research is to make the learners to be more matured especially in terms of promoting the faculty of learning, familiarization with the culture so as to speak the language with no difficulty. To this end, in the section on descriptive analytic theory, samples from written manuscripts and speakers' speeches have been taken to elaborate on the importance and value of cultural learning in enriching the faculty of learning and teaching languages to speakers.
