Difficulties of using AI in Teaching among Teachers of University of Sulaimani

Abstract

The study aims to determine the level of difficulty Sulaimani University instructors experience when using artificial intelligence (AI) in the classroom. The research population comprises all instructors at Sulaimani University for the 2023–2024 academic years. A random sample of 100 male and female teachers from seven colleges representing science and humanities disciplines was selected. The researcher employed the descriptive-correlational method, which aligns with the study's nature. To investigate the challenges of implementing artificial intelligence, the researcher developed a questionnaire consisting of 13 components. To validate the research instrument's accuracy and appropriateness, experts in teaching methods, education, and psychology reviewed the questionnaire. Reliability was established using the test-retest method, which demonstrated a 90% expert agreement rate and a reliability coefficient of 0.86. The questionnaire was then administered to the original study sample, and the data were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) software. The study concluded with a comprehensive summary of findings, accompanied by conclusions, recommendations, and future research suggestions.

The use of AI among university faculty members is relatively low, that was 36 percent, the challenges faced by teachers in adopting AI are considerable, no statistically significant differences in the barriers to AI adoption were found based on gender and No statistically significant differences in AI-related challenges were found based on years of service.
