This research, titled "Contextual Meanings in Surah Al-Saffat", explores the context, which refers to the circumstances that call for specific speech and a particular manner in which it is expressed, considering the position in which that speech is situated. These circumstances are influenced by various social, cultural, and psychological factors. This study aims to investigate the role of context, both linguistic and non-linguistic, in highlighting various contextual meanings that contribute to directing the significance of words and clarifying discourse. The linguistic context focuses on generating meanings within the structure itself of Surah Al-Saffat by specifying the conditions of the words themselves and their position with other words. Meanwhile, the non-linguistic context concerns the external circumstances of speech and their impact on estimating intentions and achieving communicative stances. The research begins by defining context in linguistic and terminological dictionaries, then discusses contextual theory and types of contexts in Surah Al-Saffat, shedding light on linguistic contexts in the Quranic text: syntactic, phonological, morphological, and lexical contexts. It also refers to non-linguistic contexts: situational context, contextual setting, and social context.
