Abstract
In the First half of twentienth century, the Iraqi community suffered from ignorance and illiteracy because education waz neglected and it was confined or specified to certain citty.
The educated people, among them the writers of short stories suffered from alot of problems that were related to the political system or even to the miserable reality of the society which they belonged and lived in.
Thus, throughout their writings, they tried to improve and reform their conditions. For that reason, the short stories were regarded as an essay to expose the reality of their community. But, they were unable to improve or even finding remedies for that misery.
The researcher tries to spot light on Iraqi writers of short stories and their efforts to change their nation.
