Social Motivations of Hooliganism and Violence Among Football: Theoretical analytical research

Abstract

This research examines the social motivations behind violence and disruptive behavior among football fans in Kurdish society, which negatively impacts sports, community, and public safety. Football fan violence is clearly a global phenomenon observed across diverse societies, and Kurdish society has not been immune to this phenomenon. Through descriptive analytical methodology, this research attempts to elucidate the social drivers of disruptive behavior and violence among football supporters. The study aims to identify relationships between social factors—such as team identity, sense of group belonging, and political differences—and fans’ propensity for violent behavior. Through scientific analysis, the research seeks to uncover the roots of this phenomenon and discover effective strategies for reducing violence in stadiums and public spaces. The significance of this research lies in addressing knowledge gaps and developing social awareness in Kurdish society regarding the negative impacts of sports-related violence.
