Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of social media on the increase of hate speech. The study aimed to identify the factors that influence the dissemination of hate speech against Yazidis on social media. To achieve this, the Yazidi community was selected as the research population, with a sample of 200 Yazidi citizens. The study utilized a survey form for data collection, and the results were analyzed using the SPSS statistical software. The researchers reached several conclusions: a majority of the participants noted an increase in hate speech on social media. Most of the research samples noticed an increase in hate speech on social networks, so the results show that Kurdish social networks through their messages had a negative impact on the spread of such speech and could not prevent it. The discourses published on Kurdish social networks in the Kurdistan Region have had a cultural and religious impact on the Yazidi community and secondly a social impact, they have a social impact that affects the nature of religious and social coexistence in the Kurdistan Region, or this influence may lead to the migration of various religious and ethnic groups within the Kurdistan Region.
