Abstract

This research is concerned with monologues and Sufism Music, in the ceremonies of the Prophet’s birthday celebrations in the city of Erbil during the Atabek era (522 – 630 H / 1128 – 1233) . In the activation and continuity of the honorable Prophet’s birth in that city, and at the same time the Muslims tasted this kind of Islamic art, and it was a tool to increase their faith, consolidate their faith, and show their love for the Noble Messenger.


Sufism Monologues and music have characteristics that distinguish them from other types of religious music. These Monologues, dhikr, supplications, and prayers upon the Messenger were made by the Sufi with a loud voice, accompanied by Sufism dancing and spinning in a circular shape. Musical instruments are also used such as tambourine and percussion, especially in Occasions of the Prophet's birthday.


The events of the Prophet’s birthday were held annually in the city of Erbil officially by Sultan Muzaffar al-Din Kawkapuri(563 – 630 H / 1168 – 1233 ), and for this purpose, Sufi guests (readers of praise (prayers), poets, writers, scholars, ascetics and worshipers) flocked from most of the neighboring regions to participate and contribute to this memory.
